I kept trying different titles for this post, but then I decided “pizza” would be more than enough.
This is the best pizza dough I have ever made. And it makes the best pizza I have ever had. And let me tell you, I have tried A LOT of different recipes. So trust me on this one.
You know it’s good when I have it memorized.
The Best Pizza Dough EVER
1 1/2 cups warm water (about body temp, or 105 degrees)
2 1/4 tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
1 1/2 tbsp oregano
1 tbsp olive oil
3 1/2 cups flour (bread or all-purpose)
Add the yeast to the warm water and let sit for a few minutes. Once the surface is bubbly (the yeast is ready!), add the oregano, flour, and olive oil. Mix everything together and knead (or mix with the dough hook) for another few minutes, until the dough is springy to the touch. Throw it in a bowl, put a towel over it, and let it rise for about an hour. You’ll want it to be doubled at least, but I think everything is more delicious when it’s twice that size.
Take the dough out, split in two (or however many pizzas you want) and flatten the dough out. Preheat the oven to 500 degrees F. Add the toppings to your pizza, throw it into the oven for 11-13 minutes (until the cheese is bubbly and the crust is golden). Easy!

Oh, and if you need some topping inspiration…my most recent favs are:
– butternut squash, caramelized red onions, goat cheese, and spinach, with olive oil in place of sauce
– brocoli, mozzarella, black olives, and pesto
– proscuitto, black olives, spinach, and gorgonzola, with roasted garlic olive oil
Also, throw some garlic powder and italian seasoning in a can of tomato sauce for a killer pizza sauce.
